We are pushing the limits of nanotechnology

Smoltek is devel­op­ing process tech­nol­o­gy and con­cepts for appli­ca­tions in order to solve advanced mate­ri­als engi­neer­ing prob­lems. By pio­neer­ing car­bon nan­otech­nol­o­gy we are lit­er­al­ly push­ing the lim­its of what is pos­si­ble in the semi­con­duc­tor and hydro­gen industries.

Our patent pro­tect­ed tech­nol­o­gy plat­form is based on car­bon nanofibers (CNFs), which have very excit­ing prop­er­ties, that may dis­rupt tech­ni­cal solu­tions where today’s mate­ri­als have reached their lim­it of performance.

As an exam­ple, we have devel­oped a pro­to­type of the world’s small­est capac­i­tor and we are devel­op­ing a new cell-mate­r­i­al with the ambi­tion to dou­ble (or even triple) the area-effi­cien­cy of PEM water-electrolyzers.

Why we do what we do

We are sci­en­tists and engi­neers with a pas­sion for nan­otech­nol­o­gy. We are in the nev­er-end­ing search of how to enhance and fab­ri­cate car­bon nanos­truc­tures, with unique prop­er­ties, in pre-defined pat­terns to enable bet­ter solu­tions with­in sev­er­al industries.

Smoltek patent No. 77 now granted

Smoltek is award­ed a new patent in Japan. This patent is the sixth one of the patent fam­i­ly in the direc­tion of CNF-MIM based com­pact ener­gy stor­age on inter­posers. This also means that our glob­al patent port­fo­lio now com­pris­es 77 grant­ed patents.

Smoltek signs MoU with global manufacturer of capacitors

The Group com­pa­ny Smoltek Semi has signed a Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing (MoU) with a glob­al man­u­fac­tur­er of capac­i­tors for the joint devel­op­ment of Smoltek’s ultra-thin CMF-MIM capac­i­tors and, pro­vid­ed that the devel­op­ment goals are achieved, mass pro­duc­tion and sales via a 50/50-owned joint venture.

Smoltek has been granted two new patents

Smoltek’s 75th patent has been grant­ed in Tai­wan and is cov­er­ing the con­cept and man­u­fac­tur­ing of extreme­ly thin ener­gy stor­age devices embed­ded in an inter­pos­er. The ener­gy stor­age device con­cepts can take a large num­ber of forms e.g. dis­crete, inte­grat­ed – or it may take the form where the end result is an inter­pos­er with CNF-MIM…

Smoltek has yet anoth­er patent grant­ed. The new US-patent is relat­ed to the Assem­bly plat­form patent fam­i­ly in the direc­tion of inter­con­nects. This also makes our patent port­fo­lio to now com­prise 74 grant­ed patents.

Collaboration agreement signed for Smoltek’s green hydrogen solutions

The group com­pa­ny Smoltek Inno­va­tion has signed a col­lab­o­ra­tion agree­ment with a large inter­na­tion­al man­u­fac­tur­er of mate­r­i­al for elec­trolyz­ers. The col­lab­o­ra­tion agree­ment includes the devel­op­ment of demon­stra­tors based on Smoltek’s high­ly effi­cient nanofiber-based cell mate­r­i­al for PEM electrolyzers.
