# Smoltek can make green hydrogen economically viable

Watch Breaking Lab – a German YouTube channel with focus on new technology – when they dive into how there is a possibility to scale up the production of green hydrogen.

> “We need green hydrogen. But how can green hydrogen scale up to an industrial level when the crucial electrolysis technology relies on one of the rarest metals on Earth?”
> *Dr. Jacob Beautemps*

This is the key question Dr. Jacob Beautemps asks himself as he reviews the prerequisites for producing green hydrogen using Smoltek’s PTE—coated with Heraeus Precious Metals’ iridium oxide solution—in next-generation PEM electrolyzers.
