# Smoltek initiates MoU-negotiations for joint development of ultra-thin capacitors

The Group com­pa­ny Smoltek Semi has been col­lab­o­rat­ing with a glob­al man­u­fac­tur­er of pas­sive com­po­nents for the eval­u­a­tion of Smoltek’s patent pro­tect­ed tech­nol­o­gy plat­form, which enables man­u­fac­tur­ing of ultra-thin car­bon nanofiber capac­i­tors, since 2020.

The eval­u­a­tion license agree­ment for this col­lab­o­ra­tion will now be extend­ed for two months, until the end of June 2022. The exten­sion is made to enable the two com­pa­nies to reach a Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing (MoU) for a con­tin­ued col­lab­o­ra­tion towards mass-pro­duc­tion of Smoltek’s ultra-thin car­bon nanofiber capac­i­tors (CNF-MIM). The MoU-nego­ti­a­tions have been initiated.

The pur­pose of the MoU is to define and agree upon both par­ties’ intents, require­ments, and the struc­ture for the con­tin­ued devel­op­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of an indus­tri­al mass pro­duc­tion process for Smoltek’s ultra-thin car­bon nanofiber capacitors.“We are now defin­ing the way for­ward togeth­er with this major capac­i­tor ven­dor to bring our ultra-thin CNF-MIM capac­i­tors to the mar­ket. I view the ini­ti­a­tion of these MoU nega­tions with our part­ner as a strong val­i­da­tion of Smoltek’s tech­nol­o­gy and know-how, as well as the com­mer­cial poten­tial for our ultra-thin car­bon nanofiber capacitors,”

The com­pa­nies expect that it will be pos­si­ble to reach a MoU before the end of June 2022, when the new exten­sion of the eval­u­a­tion license ends.
