Smoltek HydroÂgen has develÂoped a porous transÂport elecÂtrode for the anode in PEM elecÂtrolyzÂers that can sigÂnifÂiÂcantÂly reduce the amount of iridÂiÂum in an elecÂtrolytÂic cell, which has resÂonatÂed around the world. With changes in the basic conÂfigÂuÂraÂtion, the techÂnolÂoÂgy of the elecÂtrode can be modÂiÂfied so that it can also be used for fuel cell applications.
EarÂliÂer this year, a world-leadÂing vehiÂcle manÂuÂfacÂturÂer ordered a cusÂtom-made proÂtoÂtype from Smoltek HydroÂgen for evalÂuÂaÂtion. Now anothÂer major playÂer in the autoÂmoÂtive indusÂtry has placed an order for speÂcialÂly manÂuÂfacÂtured proÂtoÂtypes to test in small fuel cells. In this type of evalÂuÂaÂtion project, the techÂnolÂoÂgy is first testÂed in small cenÂtimeÂter-sized cells. In the next step, the techÂnolÂoÂgy is scaled up to a forÂmat of 5×5 cm, which is comÂmon for evalÂuÂatÂing the duraÂbilÂiÂty of the elecÂtrode through long-term tests.
