Smoltek HydroÂgen and AGC PlasÂma TechÂnolÂoÂgy SoluÂtions have finalÂized the design of a ProÂtoÂtype Coater for indusÂtriÂal growth of carÂbon nanofibers. The purÂpose with the tool is to verÂiÂfy that the nanofibers can be grown using a PlasÂma Enhanced ChemÂiÂcal Vapor DepoÂsiÂtion (PECVD) techÂnolÂoÂgy from AGC. The techÂnolÂoÂgy is scalÂable and can be extendÂed to be used for subÂstrates of sevÂerÂal square meters, for future mass production.

One of the world’s largest vehiÂcle manÂuÂfacÂturÂers is testÂing cusÂtom-made proÂtoÂtypes of a cell mateÂrÂiÂal that can sigÂnifÂiÂcantÂly reduce the amount of iridÂiÂum in an elecÂtrolyzÂer cell. The cusÂtom-made proÂtoÂtypes delivÂered by the subÂsidiary Smoltek HydroÂgen have the potenÂtial to reduce the iridÂiÂum load in elecÂtrolyzÂer cells by 95% comÂpared to today’s comÂmerÂcial mateÂriÂals, which is a preÂreqÂuiÂsite for large-scale proÂducÂtion of fosÂsil-free hydrogen.
