Smoltek patent No. 64 now granted

Smoltek’s IP footprint relating to interposers keeps growing. This new Taiwanese patent is covering energy storage devices embedded in an interposer, and the usage of the same. Our patent portfolio now comprises 64 granted patents.

Smoltek’s 64th patent has been granted in Taiwan and relates to the Interposer family, and the claim cover concepts of miniaturized compact energy storage devices, e.g. capacitors.

This invention facilitates integration of extremely thin solid-state devices, such as CNF-MIM capacitors. The main advantage is that the energy storing devices can be placed closer to the interconnection points and power rails of the active chip, thus enabling more efficient power management solutions for the whole circuit.

“The timing of this grant could not be better since the CNF-MIM concept receiving significant attention from the industry players. I view this grant as an important milestone to achieve, helping us to solidify our IP footprint around the world, specially in Taiwan, the largest semiconductor hub”, says Dr Shafiq Kabir, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Smoltek.

Our Interposer patent family protects the field of compact energy storage devices based on our CNF-MIM capacitor concept. The claims in the Interposer family cover device structures which may be on a substrate of choice, or on an interposer, or connected to an integrated circuit. One aspect also covers the application of capacitor devices where it is connected to an integrated circuit and/or a battery like energy source.

Smoltek’s patent portfolio now globally comprises 64 granted patents. Read more about our IP and patents.
