Smoltek negotiate CNF-MIM demo project

Smoltek negotiates with Imec on an industrially compatible process demonstration for CNF-MIM.

Smoltek has entered into negotiations with Imec, the world-leading research institute, on demo production of CNF-MIM capacitors in industrially compatible CMOS format, so-called 300mm format.

- Imec is a unique player with a complete and industrially compatible 300mm line, under one roof. They also have experience in the field of carbon nanotechnology, which we see as an added strength, says Anders Johansson, CEO of Smoltek.

- This negotiation is entirely in line with what we communicated in our prospectus for the on-going share issue, to carry out demo production of CMF-MIM capacitors in an industrially compatible full-scale format environment.

An agreement with Imec gives Smoltek an external partner for the verification of the technology, beyond its own lab environment, to present to possible licensees. 300mm is the process format that is the industry standard for high volume production of CMOS-based semiconductors.

Miniaturized capacitors with carbon nanofibers

Smoltek has developed the world’s thinnest discrete capacitor. Its total building height is less than thirty micrometers (30 µm). You have to stack ten of them on top of each other to reach the same height as today’s industry-standard when it comes to surface-mounted capacitors. The capacitor itself, without encapsulation, is a mere 0.5 to 10 µm. It...

Breaking barriers: The future

This is the third and last article in a series of three in which Smoltek founder and strategic advisor Shafiq Kabir share his personal thoughts on nanotechnology opportunities. In the previous two articles, he has addressed both the hype and the reality of carbon nanotechnology. In this last article, he looks into the future. He discusses how carbon nanotechnology will unleash the power of the internet of everything.

License agreement for evaluation of CNF-MIM technology extended

Smoltek announces that the agreement signed with a global manufacturer of electronic components for technical and commercial evaluation of the company's CNF-MIM technology will be extended until the end of March 2021. In addition to further evaluation, the parties will also discuss the way forward after the evaluation, including a potential broadening of the collaboration.

Vinnova project completed according to plan

The announced project within the framework of Vinnova's program "Smarter electronic systems” has been completed according to plan. Smoltek will now continue the work to achieve integration of CNF-MIM capacitors on 200 and 300 mm wafers.
