In mid-April, the management team of Smoltek Semi visited Taiwan for meetings and workshops with our collaboration partner YAGEO. Together, we also made a series of meetings with intended customers for Smotek's ultra-thin CNF-MIM capacitors.
Smoltek Semi has been visÂitÂing TaiÂwan for a series of meetÂings with our colÂlabÂoÂraÂtion partÂner YAGEO as well as a numÂber of meetÂings with potenÂtial cusÂtomers of CNF-MIM capacitors.
We have met with a numÂber of potenÂtial cusÂtomers and preÂsentÂed our CNF-MIM capacÂiÂtor techÂnolÂoÂgy, and lisÂtened to their speÂcifÂic needs for future capacÂiÂtor products.
HÃ¥kan PersÂson, CEO of Smoltek and PresÂiÂdent of Smoltek Semi
The cusÂtomers we have met are incredÂiÂbly curiÂous about our capacÂiÂtor techÂnolÂoÂgy, and they want us to proÂvide them with engiÂneerÂing samÂples* as soon as possible.
HowÂevÂer, first we need to see up an indusÂtriÂal 8‑inch forÂmat manÂuÂfacÂturÂing process for the engiÂneerÂing samÂples. This indusÂtriÂal process is planned to be ready someÂtime durÂing the third quarÂter this year. When this process is up and runÂning, we can hopeÂfulÂly start proÂducÂing engiÂneerÂing samÂples by the end of 2023.
The meetÂings have proÂvidÂed us with opporÂtuÂniÂties to disÂcuss the difÂferÂent types of conÂfigÂuÂraÂtions and requireÂment specÂiÂfiÂcaÂtions each cusÂtomer has for the next genÂerÂaÂtion of capacÂiÂtors to be used in their chip.

* EngiÂneerÂing samÂples
We define indusÂtriÂalÂly proÂduced capacÂiÂtor proÂtoÂtypes that are made with our proÂpriÂetary carÂbon nanofiber techÂnolÂoÂgy (CNF-MIM) as engiÂneerÂing samÂples. This broad defÂiÂnÂiÂtion is made just to make cusÂtomer diaÂlogues easier.
We someÂtimes comÂmuÂniÂcate that we are producing/have proÂduced capacÂiÂtor proÂtoÂtypes. These should not be misÂtakÂen for what we call engiÂneerÂing samÂples as they are soleÂly made for proÂducÂtion process testÂing and othÂer in-house R&D activities.
