In mid-April, the management team of Smoltek Semi visited Taiwan for meetings and workshops with our collaboration partner YAGEO. Together, we also made a series of meetings with intended customers for Smotek's ultra-thin CNF-MIM capacitors.
Smoltek Semi has been visiting Taiwan for a series of meetings with our collaboration partner YAGEO as well as a number of meetings with potential customers of CNF-MIM capacitors.
We have met with a number of potential customers and presented our CNF-MIM capacitor technology, and listened to their specific needs for future capacitor products.
Håkan Persson, CEO of Smoltek and President of Smoltek Semi
The customers we have met are incredibly curious about our capacitor technology, and they want us to provide them with engineering samples* as soon as possible.
However, first we need to see up an industrial 8‑inch format manufacturing process for the engineering samples. This industrial process is planned to be ready sometime during the third quarter this year. When this process is up and running, we can hopefully start producing engineering samples by the end of 2023.
The meetings have provided us with opportunities to discuss the different types of configurations and requirement specifications each customer has for the next generation of capacitors to be used in their chip.

* Engineering samples
We define industrially produced capacitor prototypes that are made with our proprietary carbon nanofiber technology (CNF-MIM) as engineering samples. This broad definition is made just to make customer dialogues easier.
We sometimes communicate that we are producing/have produced capacitor prototypes. These should not be mistaken for what we call engineering samples as they are solely made for production process testing and other in-house R&D activities.
