Smoltek is awarded a new patent – the first one of a new patent family called Discrete CNF-MIM. This innovation discloses a discrete capacitor component based on our CNF-MIM technology. This also brings our IP portfolio now to comprise 79 granted patents.

Inauguration of our in-house hydrogen laboratory
Today we have inaugurated the new in-house hydrogen laboratory. In these facilities equipped with advanced instruments and tools the R&D team can carry out performance measurement and long-term tests of electrolyzer cells, and will also be able to manufacture test cells.

Smoltek can radically reduce the iridium catalyst loading in PEM electrolyzers
Smoltek has achieved very successful test results of the company's disruptive cell material for PEM electrolysers. Prototypes with only 0.5 mg of iridium per square centimeter produce as much hydrogen as a standard material with 2.5 mg of iridium per square centimeter.

Smoltek Hydrogen has appointed Shafiq Kabir as Head of Volume Processes. Shafiq is the founder of Smoltek and he methodically created the company's technology platform and patent portfolio until January 2021, when he took a break from the nanotechnology industry for pursuing an Executive MBA-program.

A giant market for new Swedish technology
In order to enable the extensive electrification and to replace fossil raw materials in industry, large investments are being made globally in the production, distribution and use of completely fossil-free hydrogen, so-called green hydrogen. In Sweden, some attention is certainly directed towards the steel industry's investments, but the huge interest in hydrogen that we see in many other countries has not yet reached this point.
